Solutions · Custom Component Build

Components built to your spec.

Custom capacitors, industrial relay sockets, electronic packaging, terminal blocks, and electro-mechanical interconnects. When the catalog doesn't have your part, we design and build it — from first article through sustained production.

Custom component build is the design and manufacture of an electronic part that no catalog supplier offers. RLX Solutions builds custom capacitors, relay sockets, terminal blocks, packaging, interconnects, bus bars, and legacy replacement parts from a drawing, a sample, or a specification.

01 — Overview

When the catalog part doesn't exist.

Most BOMs can be filled from standard catalog parts. But every engineering team eventually hits a part that doesn't exist off-the-shelf — a capacitor with specific voltage/capacitance combinations, a relay socket with a non-standard pin layout, a terminal block with custom pitch, or an interconnect that has to mate to a legacy fixture.

We design and build those parts. Starting from a drawing, specification, sample, or even a verbal description, our engineering team develops a build package and produces prototypes. Once the first article is approved, we scale to production with the same tooling and process controls as our other programs.

Typical programs run from 50-unit annual volumes for replacement parts in long-lifecycle industrial equipment, up to 10,000+ units per year for OEM programs where a custom part has become standard in the customer's product.

02 — Capabilities

Component categories we design and build.

01

Custom Capacitors

Film, ceramic, and electrolytic capacitors built to specific voltage, capacitance, tolerance, and form-factor requirements. Power factor correction and snubber applications.

02

Industrial Relay Sockets

Socket bases for industrial control relays — custom pin configurations, mounting patterns, DIN rail or panel mount, UL recognized.

03

Terminal Blocks

Custom-pitch, custom-wire-gauge, and combination terminal blocks. Pluggable and fixed. Screw, spring-cage, and push-in contact styles.

04

Electronic Packaging

Custom enclosures, front panels, and housing assemblies for OEM electronics. Injection molding, sheet metal, machined aluminum.

05

Electromechanical Interconnects

Custom connectors, board-to-board interconnects, mating fixtures, and electrical test contacts.

06

Bus Bars & Power Distribution

Copper and aluminum bus bar assemblies for high-current distribution. Insulated, plated, and mechanically prepared to spec.

07

Heat Sinks

Custom extruded and machined heat sinks for power electronics, LED, and thermal-critical assemblies. Anodized finishes available.

08

Legacy Replacement Parts

Obsolete parts re-engineered from samples. Drawing package development, source qualification, and ongoing production support.

03 — Process

From drawing to delivery.

Discovery
Send a drawing, sample, or specification. We confirm feasibility, flag any regulatory or material considerations, and scope the program.
Engineering
Drawing package development, material selection, process design. DFM / DFA review included. NDA signed on request.
Prototype
First-article build. Typical lead time 3–6 weeks for complex assemblies. Test and acceptance plan per your requirements.
First article approval
You review, measure, and approve before production tooling and production lot. Revisions managed through controlled change orders.
Production
Scaled build with in-process QC, AQL sampling, and inspection documentation. Lot traceability per ISO 9001:2015.
Sustaining
Ongoing production support with pre-committed tooling, inventory management, and change-control on subsequent revisions.
04 — Start a program

Tell us what doesn't exist.

Send a drawing, a sample, or a spec. An engineer reviews and comes back with feasibility, timeline, and pricing for first article.

Frequently asked questions

What kinds of custom components do you build?
Custom capacitors, industrial relay sockets, terminal blocks, electronic packaging and enclosures, electromechanical interconnects, bus bars and power-distribution hardware, heat sinks, and replacement parts for legacy equipment.
Can you reproduce a part that is no longer made?
Yes. Send a sample, a drawing, or a clear photo with dimensions, and RLX develops a build package and produces replacements. This is a common request for legacy and aftermarket equipment.
Do you design the part, or do I supply drawings?
Either. RLX can build to your existing drawings or develop the design with you from a specification or a sample, then carry it through to delivery.
What is the lead time for a custom build?
Typical prototype lead time is 3 to 6 weeks for complex assemblies. Production lead time is confirmed at quote once the first article is approved.
